Mediation: Why
Should You Use Mediation?
While conflict
is a normal part of our daily lives, it is often uncomfortable.
When you find yourself in a dispute with a fellow employee, manager,
or other colleague, mediation can help you resolve issues in a
private, confidential, and timely manner.
-
Mediation is
confidential. The mediator must keep all information
confidential. Information you share with the mediator in private
meetings will not be revealed unless you specifically give your
permission to do so.
-
Mediation is
fast. Prompt resolution of the dispute frees you to resume your
other activities more quickly.
-
Mediation
allows you to retain your rights to pursue whatever established
alternatives are presently in the system.
Because
conflicts can be such a difficult experience, the involvement of a
neutral third party helps disputants to focus on solutions and
thereby resolve disputes quickly. Also, discussing a particularly
sensitive issue is often easier in the presence of a third party.

Message from the
President

"It has been my
pleasure to serve as President of this historic mediation council. The Federal Alternative Dispute Resolution Council has
served the greater Louisville Federal community for over 10 years.
During that period of time the Council has been a trail blazer in
the use of alternative dispute resolution within the federal
community. It continues that role today. With the introduction of
our internet presence we are able to reach out more fully to all
federal communities in need of a model for creating their own pool
of shared neutrals, or training or professional third party neutral
intervention."
- Linda George, Small Business Administration,
FADRC President
